Lone Oak Middle School

This year the LOMS Student Council did a "Candy Cane Gram" fundraiser to support the Toys-for-Tots program and purchase toiletry items for residents at a local senior citizen facility. They enjoyed a tour of the Toys-for-Tots facility where they sorted toys, learned about the program and the thousands of children who receive toys from this organization in Hunt County every year. Because of Covid restrictions, the students weren't able to visit with the seniors, but they were able to deliver all of the donated items, which were very much appreciated. 

 

In January the Student Council attended a leadership conference at Sky Ranch in Van, TX. They spent time bungee jumping, exploring Treetop Towers, zip lining, playing laser tag and learning about how to work together as a team and be great leaders. 

 

Currently, the students are assembling a care package for the StuCo advisors at Rio Vista Middle School south of Fort Worth. The students have learned that healthy competition in athletics is great, but when it comes to leadership, we're all on the same team.

 

The LOMS Student Council hopes to attend another conference in March and possibly one over the summer.
